PMP certification, established by the Project Management Institute (PMI®), is one of the most valued and respected credentials in project management. Earning and maintaining this PMI project management certification demonstrates a solid foundation of experience and competency in effectively managing projects and project teams.

Preparing for the Exam

To help you prepare for your PMP certification exam, we offer two PMP training courses: PMP Exam Prep Boot Camp and Guided PMP Exam Prep. The courses are structured differently, so you can choose the one that works for your learning style and schedule. In both courses, you'll gain the essential preparation needed to pass the PMP and CAPM® exams, and each course comes with our money-back guarantee.
Our PMP exam-preparation courses incorporate A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, (PMBOK® Guide) - Fifth Edition, Project Management Institute, Inc., 2013 and other sources, use PMI® terminology, and include learning tools, such as:
  • PMBOK® Guide -- Fifth Edition
  • More than 600 practice questions
  • PMP exam prep study guides
  • Flash cards for each knowledge area
  • Exercises throughout the course to reinforce PMP and CAPM exam concepts
  • Handy reference charts
  • Online practice questions and test simulation
The PMP Exam Prep Boot Camp is an intensive course conducted in a fast-paced environment and completed in several days. The Guided PMP Exam Prep course is less intensive, combines self-paced study with live virtual training sessions, and takes several weeks to complete.

Choose the Exam Prep Boot Camp if you:

  • Prefer to learn in a traditional classroom setting
  • Can take a few days away from your office to dedicate to class
  • Need to achieve your certification quickly

Choose the Guided Exam Prep if you:

  • Prefer to study at your own pace but still want occasional, mentored interaction to keep you on track
  • Cannot dedicate several days in a row for class and prefer to work around your personal schedule
  • Have at least three months before you need to achieve your certification

If you already have your certification:

Your PMP credential is good for the three years. PMI requires 60 PDUs during each three-year renewal period in order for you to maintain your credential.
With our PMP Renewal Program, you'll get unlimited access for one year to targeted, virtual courses on project management topics in all PMBOK® Guide knowledge areas. This program allows you to earn the PDUs necessary to renew your certification status, and you'll earn them on your schedule, from the comfort of your own desk, by choosing the courses you want, whenever and wherever you want. In addition to the conveniently scheduled live courses, you'll have access to any of the previously recorded courses.

The following courses help you prepare for this certification.

Requirements

To apply for PMP certification, you need to have one of the following:
  • A four-year degree (bachelor's or equivalent) and at least three years of project management experience, with 4,500 hours leading and directing projects and 35 hours of project management education
  • A secondary-level diploma (high school or equivalent) and at least five years of project management experience, with 7,500 hours leading and directing projects and 35 hours of project management education

PMI’s Project Management Professional (PMP)® credential is the most important industry-recognized certification for project managers. Globally recognized and demanded, the PMP®demonstrates that you have the experience, education and competency to lead and direct projects.
This recognition is seen through increased marketability to employers and higher salary; according to the PMI Project Management Salary Survey–Eighth Edition, certification positively impacts project manager salaries.

Who should apply?

The PMP recognizes demonstrated competence in leading and directing project teams. If you’re an experienced project manager looking to solidify your skills, stand out to employers and maximize your earning potential, the PMP credential is the right choice for you.

PMP Certification Requirements

To apply for the PMP, you need to have either:
  • A secondary degree (high school diploma, associate’s degree, or the global equivalent) with at least five years of project management experience, with 7,500 hours leading and directing projects and 35 hours of project management education.

    OR
  • A four-year degree (bachelor’s degree or the global equivalent) and at least three years of project management experience, with 4,500 hours leading and directing projects and 35 hours of project management education.
This is an overview of the requirements. For complete details regarding the PMP eligibility requirements, please view the PMP Handbook for further details.
If you do not meet the PMP eligibility requirements, you may want to look at the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® certification.

How to apply and prepare for the exam

Maintain Your PMP Certification

As part of PMI’s Continuing Certification Requirements program, a PMP credential holder will need to earn 60 PDUs per three-year cycle. To learn more about the program, what are PDUs, how to earn and claim them, as well as step-by-step instructions on how to renew your certification, watch the CCR video. You can also reference the latest PMP Handbook found on PMI.org
